  • Chambering a Barrel

I do a lot shooting with my T/C Contenders and have a couple of Wildcat barrels. I knwo I can rent the chamber reams, but how hard is this to do?

My lathe is 14 x 40, so that is not a problem.

It is not too hard to do but you have to be real picky about getting chips caught by the reamer. Also need a precise way of measuring how deep the reamer needs to go. A DI mounted on the tail stock.

Roy Dunlap's book is a good book. I don't remember the title, gunsmithing or some such(I can't find my copy just now). Modern Gunsmith by James V. Howe is another one.
Don\'t ask me to do a dam thing, I\'m retired.

      Hi Jerry,

This is the book I have:
The Complete Illustrated Guide to Precision Rifle Barrel Fitting

      It can be had here:
      http://www.precisionshooting.com/books.html

It covers every step in chambering and threading in detail.

It covers mostly Rem and Win but the basics are the same.
