  • Chameleon Face Mill

Don't know how many of you know about the chameleon line of tools Iscar make...They take 4 different shape carbide inserts and are available in Face Mills and Turning tools...I have a 63mm face mill and since I have just purchased a video recorder I thought I might take a crappy clip of it ...and here it is http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Chameleon-Face-Mill

You can tell the food is good when nobody's talking. You can tell the video's good because it's been viewed over 60 times - which is what we're all doing instead of OOOO-ing and AHHH-ing here.

      OOOOO,, AAAHHHH.

I assume it will cut edges, chamfers, etc, besides facing ??

I notice that the trailing edge of the cutter was making chips after the leading cutter past the end of the work. Does this mean your head is out of tram or do you do that on purpose, kinda like two small cuts instead of one big one?

I forgot to mention it is a 7Mb file for the bandwidth challenged(politically correct speak) among us....

Yes the cutter will cut after the leading edge has passed...I think this is because one of the cutters is a bit lower than the rest or the force of the cut makes the head move out of square with the table that little bit and after the leading edge goes past it goes back to where it should..
