  • My newest baby is running

    Hi all
Well I know it is bragging, but you guys can understand my joy - it is very hard for my wife to see the sence in a project as this

That's a beauty! What are the bore and stroke?

Nice work. Don't worry about a woman's opinion of what you do. I have been a toolmaker for 40 years and haven't got more then a 2 second look at a project from the wife.

Very nice job. Now feed it some wheaties and make it grow than put it in a steam boat.

VERY NICE is right! awesome work! and my wife is the same way, "that's nice honey."

i love when people post pics of their projects. whether it is a small steam engine, or a threaded fitting, or heck, even a flamethrower.

Thanks for all the kind words and also the advise concerning the other half

The bore and the stroke = 22 mm

I have been running the engine on compressed air only

Nice work. I get the same reaction from my wife, but at least she humors my enthusiasm.

I agree with andyb - I like the postings of others' projects. I wouldn't mind seeing video of this kind of thing, since much of the mechanism is on the outside, where it can be seen. Very cool.

My wife has begun rolling her eyes when I hunch over the computer programming.
She says if I get killed and she has to identify the body she'll have to have them roll me over to see the back of my head and shoulders to recognize me.

She has not seen me run off to the shop in a while. I love steam engines. I sure wish I had the extra time to build one to go onto the old flat belt drive drill press I have. Wouldn't that be neat? even if it ran on air.

Great job. I especially like the valve gear adjustment. Was this from plans or your own rendering? Is the steam chest attached by any other means other than by the strap?

                        Thanks Frank
The engine is my own design, but I have been looking over old books for inspiration
The steam chest is only attached to the cylinder with the "strap"
