  • Asbestos gasket replacement

I'm finally getting around to finishing up a Stirling engine fan called the Moryia. The prints I have call for a thick asbestos gasket between the hot cap and the cold cap. Can anyone suggest a good source for an alternative material?

If seen reference made to Fiberfrax but am having difficulty locating a source for small amounts. TIA, Jay

How about some compressed fiberglass? Might that work?

        Jay:

The material I used is called "Mr Gasket".
It is a high-performance gasket material available at some auto supplies, or from a hi-performance race car parts supplier. It looks like thick cardboard, and is the same stuff Jerry Howell sells in some of his kits.
