OT - color differance in bronze and oilite bearings?

Evan, I was able to do that with my older Nikon coolpix 990. Then I got a little fancier with a D100 and hung a $1300 piece of glass on it (Nikkor 17-55DX f 2.8) that I don't want rubbing up against the brass diopters (?) of the scope. Was really silly move to dump the coolpix 990 with it's super macro ability. I may get another one just for the shop.
