  • Grinder wheel holders - what taper?

Here are some 1.25 grinding wheel holders. They mount on a taper of some sort, not sure what type of grinder they are from.

Anyone know about grinding arbor taper mounts, ie are they a standard? I'd like to find dimension for the taper so i could make an adapter.

You have three samples to measure to ensure they are alike and those numbers will give you what you need to make a spindle for them or look up. I'm not aware of a Standard for grinder spindles but it seems to me that even if there is you will still need to measure what you have to check the fit.

You're down to this: make a gage. Measure the gage taper. They look like Cincinnatti T&G hubs. I see some stamped part #'s? Maybe Cincinnatti can be helpful. They do have an excellent customer service organization.

thanks guys, Forrest that was the sort clue i was looking for and Steve you're right, even with dimensions the taper it would need fitting. I would probably mount the piece in the 4 jaw, indicate with a tenths indicator as best i can, then indicate the taper setting over the compound, cut and check with blue. nevertheless, was curious of their heritage

Do a search for Sopko wheel adaptors in the MSC catalog.

Just look at the Sopko website. Last time I checked, they had domensions on most all of their adaptors shown.

You will have to search a LOT of info, but you will probably find them.

Don't recall the URL, you can just google them.
