It is very dangerous in that configuration... You really should install a saftey plug like this one for that explosed outlet:

Also, you really want to call in a professional and have the remaining paint on that thing removed. That Leaded paint is bad if you decide to start chewing on any of it...

If you take care of both of those saftey problems, there is nothing left to worry about...

Doesn't that "safety plug" require a grounding prong to be completely safe??

I'm pretty stoked about trying my hand at aluminum welding. I hope I can handle it. Everything you read has stuff about "squarewave", "pulse" etc. and I don't have any of that stuff...

I can't even remember why I needed to weld aluminum in the first place anymore...

I like the ground wire just hanging there.

It wasn't designed with a ground wire to the pedal. I need to make sure that it's OK to hook it up to the machine.

did they tig weld aluminum before square wave?

Why you need to weld aluminum?

*Because it's the manly thing to do.
                  *Because it broadens your horizens.
*Because a lot of guys you know can't do it.
*Because one never knows when you may have to manifold a six pack of beer.
*Because rivets and bolts are so tacky on a serious aluminum project. (looks so homemade)
*Because it's one less thing that stands in the way between you and whatever your imagination can dream up.

You need more reasons I'll go on
