  • The Wrong 4-Jaw Chuck Blues

I just bought a nice Chushman 4-jaw on ebay, it's got the wrong size mount. It's a 12" Chushman with a D1-5 mount, I need a 4-jaw with a D1-6 mount. If ya want to do a trade, or have a decent chuck to sell, email me, [email protected]

Ahem. This isn't exactly on-topic, but can someone enlighten me? Is there a "system" of chuck mounts? I understand 1" dia with 12 TPI, for example, but not the "D1-5" and "D1-6" business. Apologies if this has been asked and answered - I didn't find anything in the archives. Thanks, fellas.

Some of the big tool catalogs have diagrams showing the different chuck mounting patterns. Threaded, L-type, A-type, etc. "D1-whatever" refers to a camlock mount, with studs that are locked in place with a set of cams. Probably easier to understand looking at a picture than from me explaining it...

          Roger -
Thanks - that's exactly what I was trying to figure out.
