  • More Xmas Gifts

    Hi,
I'm a long time lurker, first time poster.

After seeing the other Christmas gifts a couple of weeks ago some other posters had made, I decided to make my own. They are jewelry boxes for my two daughters. I made everything except the engraving, which I had done professionally.

They are 4" in diameter, and are made from 6061 aluminum with bronze inlayed into the lid. The bottom is Lexan.

Damn looks cool, what is the green and blue colored material? And it must be the camera but the inlay looks like copper but the knobs look like brass, anyways again looks cool, I am sure they will love them.

      Thanks,
The color is powder coat. The inlay is bronze and the knob is brass.

Nice job Allan! I'll bet there'll be some squealen in your home come Christmas morn!! Gonna be some "Ah Dad"'s too. When I wanted to hear my kids say that I asked them to shovel the drive! Yours will like be the good "Ah Dads"

Thank you to our families of soldiers, many of whom have given so much more then the rest of us for the Freedom we enjoy.

It is true, there is nothing free about freedom, don't be so quick to give it away.

Allan that looks like great work and is sure to become a family heirloom. Gifts like that mean so much more than anything you can buy because they not only get gifts, but they get your craftsmanship to keep and show off. And I bet they will remember the Christmas you give them to them long after your gone. I need to make something like that for my wife so maybe she could appreciate why I spend so much time out in the shop. Good job.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I hope they turn into heirlooms, and not a doorstop. You just never know what turns a kid's crank. The old joke about kids dumping the new toys out so they can play in the cardboard box, is so true.
