    My Stirling engine

    Hey all, i'm a mechanical engineer at a little school called Grove City College in Pennsylvania, for one of our labs we made stirling engines, i'm a regular visitor at this site and just thought i'd share my lil beaut with you guys, she runs really smooth

    Hi Dave, welcome to the forum, thats a beutiful engine you have there, tell us more about it. Was it from a bolt together kit, or did you machine the castings and fabricate the other parts?

      How large is this engine?

        Hmm, based on your interest in casting I'm going to guess you cast the flywheel and base. Looks like the engine is about 10" overall length.

          Real sharp, How much was done on a CNC machine? Plans posted would be a plus.

          Actually why dont we have a forum just for projects and plans?

                Thats a very nice engine you have there. I plan on building a little engine when I get my new lathe. And Im with IOWOLF, it would be nice to have a forum so the beginners could find some neat projects.

                  yeah i don't know if i can give exact plans or not, but i'll see if i can scan some more details in the near future, but its got either a 5/8 or 1/2 bore on the power cylinder, and most parts were mostly machined by the shop assistants, we just had to drill holes, and other simpleton things in my opinion then assemble, i have my own shop at home, so i found it to be extremely easy, but it was fun anyhow, the only cast piece was the fly wheel, and the base and fly wheel were the only CNC mill machined parts, another part was done on the CNC lathe to show us how it worked.
