  • Max bearing speed

Does anybody know what the max speed might be for a 6x12 surface grinder.( Currently 3450 This is a sanford surfae grinder and i was thinking about raising the spindle rpm in order to get tha sfpm up useing small grinding wheels for doing slot work. know that i should be using a high speed attachment but i thought i could take advantage of the fact i have a seperate motor Any help thanks Chris

5500 surface feet per minute (SFM) is about standard for aluminum oxide grinding wheels. Set your grinder up for this and you won't go wrong.

Yes -- your main worry needs to be the maximum safe speed of the grinding wheel you're using. But assuming you know that.... As a complete WAG I'd guess for maximum spindle speed...no, I'm not going to geuss. I don't know.
