  • the Tesla truck

I like the apparent ground clearance. I'll like it even more if it has a curb-to-curb turning circle of 11 meters (36 ft) or less -- that is my max tolerance for maneuverability.

I suppose it has headlights, but where are they?

It's the ugliest thing I've ever seen. It looks like the Mars rover from some sci-fi movie.

      It's not a truck,it's a stainless steel El Camino.

I looked at it briefly the other day, briefly because I refuse to buy anything Tesla until -A they start operating like a real car company and B- They start releasing parts to the aftermarket like a real car company.
I just need one more tool, just one!

It looks like it was made out of aluminum foil bent by hand, but it is certainly "different". It reminds me a little of the VW "Thing":

Almost as ugly as the "Citi-Car":

The looks are hard to take, no doubt. The reason for the angularity is stated to be that it is fashioned from thick sheets of stainless, which effectively prohibits compound curves. But I wish they had used more than just flat planes -- cylindrical and conical surfaces might be blended to please the eye.

It will be nice to have sheet metal which does not wrinkle from a slight bump from an opening car door.

It'd also be nice to have a truck with room and load capacity to actually haul something. The 'trucks' these days, like this one, are mostly cab with a little bitty box. Disgusting.

Aside from the vehicle itself, I hade a hard time watching Elon introduce the thing and it’s features. He was like watching paint dry. Like he never practiced his presentation. Aside from the window failure. I do wonder what happened there?? Somebody’s ass got kicked over that!

The aircraft companies seem to manage curved and compound curved stainless without a problem, and have for decades. Tesla must be a bit behind the times.

That shape is pretty much the same idea as the aerodynamic version of a truck I saw in a link from this forum a few years ago. It sure does not seem to leave much room for any cargo.

Many trucks still have a decent box available. The new Ranger I bought has a six foot bed, the exact same as the S10 it replaced. The S10 did have an 8 foot option, if you got a standard cab. The Ranger has no standard cab version, just the extended (not "crew"), so there is no 8 foot bed.

Now. if you get the "CREW" cab version, you get a yuppie bed box, that is maybe 4 or 5 feet long. THAT is just plain useless for any real , practical, purpose, IMO.

I'm somewhat inclined to think that the smashed window thing was planned. These folks aren't that dumb. I'm pretty sure that they could select appropriate material for a window that would actually not have broken. If the thing that was thrown at the window just bounced off, there would be way less talk about it.

Something strange about Tesla, read a news article about copper theft from their factory, they tried to keep it quiet, fearing bad press..
then it said it was 37 million dollars worth, yes 37 million !,
don't know about you guys, but I would not recover or keep quite about a 37 million dollar loss..

Being that he owns SpaceX, perhaps a 37 million loss is a tiny expense.
I still can't wrap my head around the costs in aviation.

                          Don't like the guy.
                          Arrogant and a bully.
Just won a court case that just about every normal human being thought he would not win.
                          Big news over here.
                          Nasty piece of work.
Would not buy anything that had his name to it if you paid me.
