    7 is certainly an oddball. It's clearly a morse or B&S taper or similar. But it's got the slit (and two more we can't see I'm guessing) that mark it as a collet. Yet it's only got a flat tongue style tang instead of being threaded for a drawbar.

    Would the slits allow enough force from simply snapping it home to connect in to what is being held? That seems a little iffy to me....

      So last night I did some looking and fiddling and lo and behold #7 is a tap holder for a #2 Morse taper.....cool! Back in the tool box it goes, whether I use it is another matter LOL

        I'll be glad when this thread disappears over the horizon. You can tell I'm getting old when I admit to have read the title half a dozen times and thought "what help is he offering?"
