Latrobe Dynacut Steel....

I was given several form tools that are Latrobe Dynacut Steel. I was going to re-grind them to the typical cutting tools used on a lathe. Could someone tell me a little about this material - hardness, what type of material they cut best,...etc.?

Latrobe DynaCut is a general purpose cobalt moly tool steel. Good stuff but nothing spectacular. Use it for general purpose machining of mild and alloy steels following the guidelines typical for HSS. The cobalt content allows about 20% higher SPM and it's also more resistant to grinding and abrasion.
