The dilemma; I got two dozen arrows with my compound bow when I bought it - a dozen nice easton carbon/aluminum ones that are actually about the perfect weight and length a dozen beman carbons that are a little lite but perfect for target practicing, the bad thing is - they are pushing it for being too short for my bows draw length, actually uncomfortable to shoot with because of that reason, never had a problem but still I don't want the worry as the base of the tips are actually resting too close or maybe even a little in the arrow holder,
I could move the holder back - plenty of travel on it to do so but like to keep it right at the pivot point for the hand that's holding the bows grip - this ensures better accuracy when the shot goes off... plus I do have it back just a little - don't want to compromise anymore,,,
The thought occurred to me to just sell the arrows and purchase some others but wanted to avoid the hassle --- I looked around for special extended 100 grain field points or maybe even slightly extended nock ends of combination of the two - just a little extra length is all I need - could not find anything and im new to this so maybe there's a simple solution that I missed - but no big whoop cuz I got all 12 taken care of for about 8 bucks,
I bought some x-long 125 grain field points --- the arrows F.O.C. weight would have been too heavy with them but figured out a way of keeping the arrows at the ideal overall weight along with F.O.C. (front of center) AND of course having the security of the extra length, I hollowed the points out, a .141" endmill running almost the entire length of the main beef - then a .187" @ .125" deep - install a hardened stainless plugs press fit with loctite and grind to match the point,
pumped out about 120 shot's yesterday and it's the best iv ever done... I think most of that is just not having the worry anymore...
