My craigslist and FB marketplace habit finally paid dividends. I scored this beautiful Famot/Polamco/Toolmex TUM-35D1 with DRO for $2500 locally from the small maintenance department of a rope manufacturer. I had to do some research to even know what I was looking at but quickly came to realize these machines are great. 5hp, 14x40, an amazing 3500lbs, 2500 rpm, made in Poland. I’m beyond excited. Now have to figure out how to unload it. VFD is in order to power it.

Those Polish lathes were really built stout.
Parts are getting hard to come by, and what you can get is $$$. But unless it was abused you probably will never need any parts.
Check the motor leads, some of that era had crappy insulation that dried out, cracked and falls off leaving hot wires w/o insulation.

Congratulations. Good things come to those that wait!
Looking at the bottom of the machine's base, are those oil reservoir sight glasses I see? Is that for coolant, or lube oil? And there appears to be a chart at the threading dial. Being a European built lathe it looks like you're set up to cut metric threads. Will it cut English pitch threads too? I'm not familiar with the brand, but it does look like a well built machine. Any tooling come with the deal?
