It's a nicely made bolt head drill fixture for tie wires. Opens up to around 2 1/8" point to point. Has different size wire gauge drill bushings. I will never use it, and I don't think anyone will ever buy it, so free to anyone who wants it.

I'm guessing the round thing behind the jaws screws in and out to adjust the position of the hole, but it looks like the "fixed" jaw has provision to slide up and down, which I don't understand.

It looks very nicely made, but how are you supposed to use it?

This tool is in very good shape, it's precision machined and surface ground all over, then black oxide, and has proper jig feet. It looks like something custom made by a good toolmaker. Happy it went to someone who can use it. Yea, it feels ridiculously overbuilt. Someone put some time into that thing. Have to throw out a line into lake Karma every once in a while. Enjoy.

Never even knew such things existed, I'd always assumed all wire lock nuts & bolts came from the factory already drilled. Lovely piece of kit, and very kind of junkaddict to find a good home for it. I guess the drill goes down through the small bush on the right hand block, and the bolt to be drilled is locked in place by the sliding 'jaw' on the left. One question - why does the right hand jaw have the facility to be adjusted up & down? Ian

If you look closely you can see the block on the right is made of two parts.

The two piece right side jaw is probably so one can alter the distance in from the corner of the bolt that the hole goes. If you don't want to put the hole right on the corner you can adjust the top half of the right hand block up and the bottom half down to move the hole further in toward center. If both weren't adjustable, that couldn't be done without changing the height of the bolt centerline.

That is a well though out fixture. I could see similar being designed into a set of jaws to fit a mill vise.
