Unusual Vice Grips

Likely custom made by the end user. I've seen lots of others. I reshaped a pair of Vice Grip jaws for installing HAYCO strain relief cord bushings.

I've modified a few pliers, but no vise grips yet aside from the ubiquitous slide hammer.

The ones with the piece of round stock welded on the jaw are for pinching off copper (or other) tubing. I have an old pair of those.

So far , even in 40 years on this side of the pond, I have found none to equal GENUINE, Mole wrenches. Some USA and Canadian older ones nearly do so. I keep my eyes open at Garage sales etc just in case I can find another.

One looks to be original Vise Grip brand, the other one is some other mfg. Vise Grip has over the years made some unusual tools for specific applications not seen in any parts stores.
An example would be a pair that is used to crimp brass ferrules on welding gas hoses. Might see a pair in a welding supply store but probably not at an auto parts store.

Oh yeah! I have a set of the gas hose crimper vise grips too, forgot about those.

I have found that genuine Mole grips which were the only brand available in the 60's in the UK had a difficult to use opening lever. The levers on my no name brand bought in the last few years work in the opposite direction and are much more user friendly.
In the UK we clamp things in a vise, vice is more to do with naughty ladies.

The one on the right with the sliding jaw is similar to those sold by the "Whale tool Co.".I have a pair of them which actually work well. Solves the problem of the tilted jaw that usually occurs with the vise grip pliers. Not so great at holding round parts, but the other jaw gives centering..

It's the same thing as a US type Vise Grip.

There is a difference in that the release handle works in the opposite direction to the US version.
