  • tool gloat- probably not

A cupple of our thrift stores were open today. Picked up some urethane tubing, some spade connectors- and a reamer. It's a Sonnax 77754-R2, a valve body reamer for a 4L60 GM tranny. I found this out while trying to find out what the sizes are. Appears to be unused. It looks like the small part is 1/2 inch and the larger part 5/8, but I have not tried to measure it. Behind that the body looks to be 3/4 diameter.

In automotive pricing it's 100$ or more- all mine for 2 bucks. I may never use it, but it looks nice

Congratulations. Always fun to score a great deal. What you have there isn't tool gloat. No, it's trade bait. Sell it for a handsome profit to someone who needs it and turn that 2 dollar acquisition into something you really need by purchasing something that will make all of us jealous. Then you can gloat!

Yep, don't clutter up your shop with stuff you will never use only because you got a deal on it.
Ebay it away and buy something you will use with the profit.

          - but don't forget the buyer's name and contact information . . . so you can borrow it, when you need it.

Too bad you didn't get the transmission for $2. Then you'd have something.

In the old days you could buy a transmission for what you'd pay just for this tool now. I just measured the two reamer diameters- the small size is .443 and the larger is .563. Not particularly useful sizes in the home shop.

It's an opportunity to make profit. Once you know what it is it's easy to advertise.
if you get 30 to 50 bus it's good profit..
yeah that kinda of stuff sits forever in most shops, maybe never being used once.
and then 20 years go's by and you have to move or downsize and you have truckloads of stuff.. took me over a month to clear out my shop with help , and I still have a 50 ft storage unit full.. 2 semi loads probably.. I know this.
