Ever see a C Clamp like this?

I'm sure we all know how shop gorillas LOVE to tighten C clamps until they warp or snap. I could see the hinge area on this design easily being a weak point. Between a built in weak point and the number of parts and machining operations leading to higher cost it's no surprise that this is rare find.

Right on. That IS an awfully small-looking pivot pin.

It has a patent number on it. Anyone up to researching it??

Seems they’re cast aluminum, so perhaps the hinge pin isn’t the weak point. There’s a couple on EBay at the moment.

That makes me think that the intended usage was for a more delicate industry. No idea what this would do that an F clamp would not but there ya go....

The tighten knob is on the side. Image something clamped to a table, and you want rounded end up . With regular ones you have to reach uńder the whole clamp to tighten... with these.. on the side ..very handy..
