  • Specific Name For This Type Fastener

I know this is a dry wall fastener, the are hundreds of different types. Is there a specific name for this particular style??

I checked bot big box stores in my area. They both have a wall full of all kinds of cheap fasteners, some plastic some metal, but not this one.

I need the size like the one pictured in the center.

    Who makes these?

Yeah, I've noticed over recent years those don't seem to be as readily found as they once were. Seems like styles change, or at least preferences.

But our good friends down at Harbor Freight say they have them in 40 pc assortment packs.

That's the big name I was trying to think of.

Rawl calls them this design SM Intereset. Not sure if that is their specific name or an industry standard name.

Your right. I used to see these every where, even at the small privately owned hardware stores.

I don't as a rule buy assortment packs of anything except chocolates, because what always happens is there is never enough of the size you need in an assortment pack and then you have to go buy another assortment pack.

I wasn't impressed by the Rawlplug instructions for fitting these anchors, see link in post #11. If you follow the instructions, the lot will come loose.

In my youth I hung hundreds of drapes and used thousands of those dry wall fasteners. Always called them Mollies.

The screw in drywall fasteners are a lot faster and just as sturdy. I prefer the metal type, but they are also made from plastic.
