I was searching for some Starrett tools by number on Google today and one reference was to an amazon.com item. Just out of curiosity I clicked on that link and sure enough, there was the combination square number I was searching for. What really got my attention however, were the buttons beneath the item. One would add it to the cart while the other would add it to my WEDDING REGISTRY

Now I've been married for a few years so this isn't going to help me much but I thought I'd pass it along for all to enjoy. Beneath the Starrett were Milwaukee, DeWalt and other nice names for the newlywed.

It seems to be the new thing. One of my son's friends registered at Sears for Craftsman tools! Excellent way to start off the marriage!

Makes a hell of a lot more sense than expensive silver and crystal the kids will probably use once a year if their lucky. Besides with the number of women getting into the trades should this really suprise us.

After 21 years of marrriage, I just may have to find me a girl friend, get devorced, and start over. Naw, I couldn't ask for a better wife, even if we did get three crock pots, a silver tea set and whole bunch of other stuff for our wedding. She still pulls out stuff I haven't seen since the wedding.

I'd still feel funny about getting the bride and groom a weed wacker, or circular saw for a gift.

When we got married our best man gave us a Skill belt sander.(Must be why I chose him for the best man job.)After 24 years it's still going strong and has outlasted almost every other gift.To carry on the fine tradition I gave one of my brother-in-laws a top of the line DeWalt circular saw when he got married.The look on my new sister-in-law's face was priceless.

My uncle was given two cast concrete laundry tubs as a wedding gift from a relative. When that relative's oldest daughter was getting married my aunt hears a clanging and banging from the laundry room. Goes down to the laundry room my uncle is unbolting the laundry tubs. She asks him what is up he says "if this was their idea of a good gift for us then it's gonna be a great gift for their kid".
I'm lucky my wife always insists on my buying top of the line tools, you only pay for them once (usually).
I also know a lot of women that would love to get power tools as a gift, ain't like it used to be anymore. Tons of women doing their own wood working projects these days.
