  • My birthday present from wife

I'm embarrassed to say that I did not know about Boris Artzybasheff before my wife put him on a sweatshirt for me.

I won't be wearing this lovely thing in the shop.

Here is more of his work:

OK, who will be the first to make an actual working machine with anthropomorphized features? Or at least 3-D printed "costumes" to put over them?

Excellent genital placement on a radial drill press, never thought that I would live long enough to see such a thing (-:

I wouldn't be wearing it anywhere else either !

At first I thought it was pictures of actual machines, but I was looking at it on my phone.

The biggest problem with those pics (which I have always liked, BTW) is the lack of people these days who would even understand them.... What percentage of regular "sheeple" you see on the street would have any idea what a radial drill is, or could recognize one when they see it? Far less likely to recognize it in that "anthropomorphic" form

Likely to instead get questions or objections about your "pornographic" shirt pictures....... As per an earlier comment.

It's a dirty shame, because the artwork is very cool, really.

If you look closely at a digital signal, you find out it is really analog......

I agree, Jerry. It's really great in subject and rendition but most folks wouldn't see the machinery as such but they will sure see the creature part! I think I would wear that outside.........

I had never heard of that artist, but looking at the link you posted of his work I recognized the style from the old ads from the 40's and 50's Popular Science and Popular Mechanix magazines and the like. Nice gift, clearly your wife knows the sort of things that you would appreciate. That's not always the case. Very cool

Good points. You have to be careful what you wear today as it may offend someone.

I wonder how the artist sees the rest of the world?? "anthropomorphic" who comes up with these words???

I don't worry about the opinions of idiots! I'd wear it with pride, and if someone complained about it, just ask them to point out what offended them. Them show them the little stub of elevation screw below the hand, and ask them why they have such a filthy mind?

Yep, "own it".... I'm not "worried", just thinking that at one time a fair number of folks would know at least what they were looking at.... now, well, no...... But those folks don't recognize anything else, either, unless maybe it's a cheeseburger...
