  • Where to find?

    1) An INSIDE deburring tool. By inside I mean this: let’s say I drill a hole into a piece of tubing. I want to remove the burr that is on the INSIDE of the tube.
    2) Brazing shim stock, i.e., used for furnace or torch brazing. A piece of shim stock is placed in the joint, The joint is clamped together and heated to the melting point of the shim, the shim melts and collapses and voilà, a neatly brazed joint.

Certain that both Noga and Vargus will have a debur blade made just for that purpose.

If you have a Noga, you could make your own custom blades, they are just a length of steel with a groove turned in them. When I was working, the management bought everyone a deburring tool made in Israel, but no makers name on that I can remember. Inside the handle were about 8 assorted blades which would do most deburring jobs including the inside of holes in tubes. The inside ones curved right round so that the deburring was achieved by pulling the tool as you whirled it around. Of course the tool is out of my reach due to lockdown otherwise I would post pictures.

The Noga blade shape is the S30 and S60 for holes in tubes.

It’s not referred to as shim. Do a search for “ brazing foil “ and you’ll get a bunch of hits. Mostly in India, but a few here in the states.

EZ Burr, do not know how well they would work on tubing however.

I've got a couple bent shaviv blade for inside of tubing, they work well.

No idea where to source the brazing foil, but If all else fails you can make your own. I've smashed brazing wire into flats before for the same purpose, but a jewelers rolling mill could do a more professional job.

That one Bented linked to, works on holes in flat surfaces. The ones we used work on slots on flat or curved surface..

Found not making a back burr deep down a pipe the best way, tight sliding plug of phenolic or tufnol, hardwood at a pinch, fix long rod, poke down hole, usually no burr, on a fixture on a big enough tube a drill bush in the plug holds the edge up, if really fussy fill with bending alloy
