  • Free to good home. Twist drills

Free to a good home, you pay shipping. 1 box of taper shank drills. Most are mt1 and a few mt2, some are new others used. I think most if not all of them are under 1/2”.

For reference, the box they are in is 10”x6”x4” tall and pretty much full.

They will ship in a USPS medium flat rate mailer.
You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 1 photos.

That's awfully generous of you. Taper drills are one of the few tools I don't have. I should have picked some up for my smaller mill and lathe. I don't need them all, but I'd love one of each size.

If it's easier for you, I'll gladly redistribute the extras if you send me the whole batch.

    PM Sent.

Watch this page folks. When I get them, I'll figure out which ones are duplicates and will pass them on to whoever needs them.

Two things about them.. somtimes they are longer than jobber drills, but shorter OAL because no chuck in between.
and they never slip.. and you can maybe run tighter together in a multi spindle drill head.

I wouldn't say no, though I've never used them before. I have an sb9 with a native mt2 spindle and I have an mt1>2 adapter. Let me know when you have the time.

Oh hell yeah! MT-1 and MT-2 drills. Thats the good stuff. For us folks anyway. Perfect size and they can be tuned up just like any other drill.

Just a wry note about these drills. Oxford promptly dropped them in the Pennsylvania US mail on Jan 4. Flat rate Priority Mail as promised. Within 8 hours it was at the Chicago distribution center about 640 miles away. Yay!

---- Fast forward a bit ---- 8 days to be exact.

On the 13th they arrived in North Carolina. That's 580 miles south east of Chicago. It's 220 miles west of it's starting point. It's also 130 miles closer to my house on the west coast.

In 9 days the drills have traveled over 1,200 miles and are now 130 miles closer to my house. At an average of 14 miles a day, I expect them to get here in 164 more days.

Stay Tuned. I will be passing on the extras if I live long enough to collect the package.

I bought some used books on P.M. a couple of months ago. They went from California to St. Louis in one day. Then it took two weeks to travel the rest of the way to me, about two hundred miles. True, this was during the holiday rush.

The box arrived today. 67 tools in there, if I counted correctly. It took 8 days to get from one side of the GREENSBORO NC NETWORK DISTRIBUTION CENTER to the other side and out the door. Then it took 9 days to get across the country.

                            I have a theory:

Some of the postal service offices are so overloaded that they don't have room to store the packages. So what do they do? They throw bags of packages into any truck that is not full yet. It does not matter where it's going. Once that truck gets where it's going, then it's that center's problem to figure out where to send it next. The key is that once it's thrown into the back of a truck they can check it off as "handled" and don't get dinged for slow service.

You have never spun a taper shank drill?
                              Say it ain't so (-:
With enough machine you can twist the tang off of a 3" twist drill.

I did not do this by the way, it was in the drill drawer marked 3" along with several others with the tangs twisted off, I simply wanted to drill rough holes before finish boring. Taper shank tools with the tang missing are difficult to remove as you may well imagine.
