  • low-rider Cadillac

I was photographing in the Green Gables neighborhood of Phoenix yesterday. The houses are small; many are well-built brick structures dating from the 1920s. I took this photo with my Contax G1 and Zeiss 28mm Biogon lens, on Ilford Delta 100 film. To frame the shot I crouched low on the front lawn. Just as I clicked the shutter the front door opened and the Latino owner came out. He didn't mind my trespass, just smiled that his car had attracted my admiring attention.

Some of the 1950s coupes were incredibly long. Does this Cadillac have all the others beat?

The Contax G1 and Ilford 100 do the car justice, nice shot.

I remember two cars that always stood out for me as being large and yes, long, both GM models..

One was the 1964 Buick Electra 225.

The other was of course the 1959 Cadillac, in all of it's flavors. Probably GM's high water mark when it comes to flamboyant opulence,

Ya, the '59 Caddy looks reeeeeealy long. But that '64 Duce and a quarter turns my knob. It'd look even longer with the top down!
I cut it off twice; it's still too short

1976 Oldsmobile 98 Regency, had one this same color. 455 Olds, AC system better than most houses and would cruise at 80 mph like riding on the living room sofa.
