Anyone know of reasonable shipping/rigging company to haul machine from Chicago to Kalamazoo area of SW MI?

The term "machine" covers a lot of territory. It could be a tabletop 9x20 lathe or it could be a 30 ton monster. I have used a uhaul open trailer a couple times to move bridgeports, it worked out fine. Of course, you need a way to unload it at the destination.
