yeah, some of those setups were a bit scary unbalanced.... but NOW I want a slug of alu to bolt onto my faceplate..... ooooo using angle iron for a 90 cut!

As a HSM you make do with what you have. Apparently he does not have a 4 jaw chuck or a milling setup for the lathe, and definitely don't see any mill in use, so he is really inventive to get it done. I definitely give him credit for thinking outside of the box so often.

Finally had a chance to watch part 1, and I'm glad I did. He's using a lot of the lathe techniques from the pre-WWII books. I really need to make a "centering plug" for my faceplate like his.

It looked like he free-handed the shape of the connecting rods, and yet all of them look pretty much identical. Wow.
