                That's beautiful work in more ways than one. In my experience, once a weld has cooled down below the point of glowing, then you can get the nice colors. His shielding gas is covering the weld only long enough to let it get down into the range of tempering colors, say 300F to 600F. So probably he's using a fairly slow flow rate <= 20CFH. Cheap-n-nasty 304 SS gives the most and prettiest colors BTW -- dunno why, is it the chromium oxides?

                PS it's funny watching Doozer and JR sword-fight. Cheap entertainment.

                    looks like a normal day at work to me but I have seen some tig welds that made me pee my pants because they were so perfect -- in particular on the plant piping for the liquid hydrogen at my old job, that was installed by Praxair. I hope whoever did those welds was paid good money....

                      Some wonderful looking welds are made by orbital welders... All I had to do was tack the joints and press the button.
                      Not referring to the artwork but to the job done by praxair...
