I was watching this video where they appear to say that Morris engines cylinders were "rolled" to finished dimension rather than honed. Is that right or did they just leave that part of the process out? I thought the texture left by honing was necessary to seat the rings.

I believe that this was an accepted practice back in the day. Think of it as an early method of plateau honing that is used today where the peaks left on the cylinder wall from honing are taken off. The method shown in the video uses a roller burnisher to achieve a somewhat similar result.
