  • Two newbie tips

A couple of tips for the newbie came to mind today they are really simple and most of you probably already use these methods but I thought maybe some of the newer blokes might find them handy
Screwdriver slots- to refurbish or form a screwdriver slot, put two blades in the hacksaw and saw away.
Stripped internal threads- I have used this on chainsaws where the bar studs have pulled out of the saw body, all I do is find a bolt or piece of threaded rod a bit bigger than the original thread size, tap the original hole to suit this and loctite a piece in then drill and tap back to the original size, I have also made these inserts on the lathe and put a screw slot in them to fit them. On the chainsaw I used a 1/2" whitworth bolt and tapped the internal M8.
