My Ram 1500 is the 7th one I've had. Wouldn't trade a pick up for any other vehicle.

Maybe this would be ideal in my mind. Simple, easy to work on, basic truck.

And it's true.

But, it carries considerably more than the S10, and can tow a lot more. It also has over 2x the power of the S10, even though it has a similar size 4 cyl engine. The 270 HP has some real benefits.

And, despite size and power, it is getting mileage that the S10 never saw. Drove to Minnesota on Wednesday, mpg for the trip was 28.8 mpg. I never saw more than 24 mpg with the S10, so that is 116% of the mpg I got with the old truck.

Oh, yeah, the old question.... do you really NEED a truck? Well, yes. I've put 27,000 miles on it so far, and 80% or more of that has been with the bed full with what I'd need where I was going, what I had to take there, or what I was bringing back.

I sure don't mind getting better mileage loaded than the old, smaller, underpowered truck got when traveling unloaded.

Height? Yeah, it's high, and unloaded, the tailgate is the highest part of it. Mostly due to tires, plus the just-short-of-one-ton load capacity, which requires some spring travel distance, unless you want the springs to be so stiff that everything gets shaken to heck.

MYF-150 truck IS too BIG! I hate it!!!!! There is no reason for a bed of a truck to be so high you can't load it easily. Not to mention trying to park it!

Yep 2012 f350 4x4 bed so tall can hardly reach over the sides, quite a big step to even get in the bed, 1994 toyota can easly reach in anywhere. Of course the toyota cannot do near the heavy pulling that the ford can, but why so tall?

I'd love to have my truck get 40 mpg but I'll never live long enough for the difference in cost between my 1995 F250 with its 12 mph to make up for the cost of that new truck. My truck spends most of its time in the garage, only coming out to work. It don't look pretty but its paid for and it does work like hauling seeds to market, hauling seeds for planting, and plowing snow.

I wish the US wasnt so weirdly infatuated with gigantic trucks, would make it easier to find something i like... My current truck is a 2012 Chevy Colorado base model. No fancy bells and whistles, i dont even have power locks or windows, but it run and drives, and the bed is big enough for me to haul around the things i need to which just wouldnt fit in a car trunk. Gas mileage is decent too. Pity there isnt much of a market for mid-size trucks in the US, itd be nice to see some competition. Pretty sure i could count the number of options on my hands, least the common ones, and even the common ones arent too common on the used market, in comparison to the full sized monstrosities

My GMC Sierra is 21 years old and going strong. No macho stuff on it, just factory plus a hitch for large trailers. But it leaves those Toys standing still.

I have always been in awe when it comes to seeing the pick up trucks in the U S of A. They are so big. So I was suprized to see how much respect these youtube guys had for this toyota pick up. In my country virtually every farmer has one and I have spent over twenty years using one for my plumbing vehicle.
They are real tough. Its painful to watch what they do to this vehicle and their are a few of these videos.
It seems these days you own a vehicle for five years and it reaches their obsolescence. Not so with these hiluxes. I must say these guys seem to have quite a big budget for youtubers.
