Well, the psychologist is fun at least. I used to make a sport of annoying them.
After all, you're paying them big money,. might as well play with their minds a little bit, right?

By the way, I got into a staring contest with a chicken once,- it was a draw.

Many years back someone wrote on rec.tech.machinist (RCM) a very good paper that described all the jobs and skills of a machinist. I had it saved for years but lost it. Anyone know the document I'm talking about and have a copy they can post??

What I learned in college was that a machinist is one who knows the difference between 1” and 1.000”.

• A man with high skill, precise eye, and attention to infinite detail.
• A man with inadequate machines and too few tools to do what he wants or must to do.
• A man who succeeds despite machines and procedures set against him.
• A man paid too little for his skill and time.

Most people think they're underpaid. Maybe a machinist accepts that he receives a relatively low pay for doing something he enjoys.

Was told the same, it’s a vocation not an occupation, seems fair, what first attracted me, ( ok I’m certified crazy I know,mum had me tested) I loved the smell of the engineering shop, it just does it for me and I’ve no idea why, some memory I can’t say,

Some days I'm underpaid, some days I'm overpaid. I'd say my pay on average is in tolerance.
