    Someone who needs to be extremely critical of the smallest details and isn’t paid worth a damn for the skills they have.
    Pilot is the opposite.
    My advice, do the littlest possible for the most money.

            It depends on how you price time away from your family....

            I also would rather make less money spending my days doing something I enjoy. Most of my friends who left engineering make more money but I don't think I would enjoy what they do.
            Now I do realise this is a luxury you can only afford beyond a certain income level.

              Only at the top end. Entry-level pilot jobs in, say, minimally equipped piston twins are a lot of work and require a lot of skill for starvation wages. Once you get into larger jets things turn right around.
