Yeah Funny doozer The only reason i switch to metric was when it was acting up I just began switching everything trying to get it to work. Had a Job I had to do and no readout wasn't nice . Been working great so Far.

Yeah, about 20 years ago there was a whole lot of electrolytic capacitors in all sorts of electronics that were doomed from the factories. I think production lasted for like 10 years and even had a name - "capacitor plague". I believe it was a problem with the chemistry of the electrolyte. The tops of the caps would bulge out. Samsung got hit real hard by this.
Glad you got it sorted out.

Would like to give a DRO Follow Up. The initial issue was very Dim and when switching from Metric To Imperial on the front Located Switch, suddenly for a millisecond the Readout was very Bright. Well after dinking around with it Found out it was the capacitors and now actually working Again. Glad I didnt buy a new One. Its working like it did when I bought it. I hope this Information helps someone out one day.

It is a 2 axis Mitutoyo
DRO about 25 years old. It always was Ok but then began getting dimmer and dimmer then nothing. when I switch it from Imperial to Metric for a second the LED s all light up like they were new then nothing.

Which type is it? The little square model or something else? Sounds like maybe the internal power supply bit the dust.

Mitutoyo 2 Axis Readout for Milling Machine Broke?
Well was working on my Old Bridgeport Mill and the readout kept getting dimmer and dimmer, finally nothing. I checked all the wires and all was OK. Is they're anyone around that can repair these units? I bought it brand new 20 years ago for $1400 dollars. Shame not try to repair it. ThankyouTags: None
