The BT40 has metric threads, all the same but different drawbars will set you up nicely.

    Thank you!

Thanks Big-Dipper. I want to outfit this spindle with a quick change collet chuck, sized to accept Ortlieb collets (which I have many of). I can only find the chuck with NMTB 30 taper shank. It looks like the CAT30 internal socket on the spindle has a recess for the straight tang you speak of. I'm not really worried about the drive keys, I'll modify accordingly.

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge,
    Eric.

The actual size and angle of the taper is the same. There are differences in the "tang", e.g. NMTB has a straight tang at the end, the CAT has no tang. The flange and drive keys wll differ slightly, but can normally be modified if needed.

I believe Cat and V-Flange are diffferent names for the same thing.

    Spindle Taper Question

    Hello,
    I have a spindle that has a CAT30 taper. Does anyone know if this is interchangeable with NMTB-30 and/or V-flange 30 and/or BT-30?
    Thanks,
    Eric.
