  • Coolant

From discusion on other threads, I started to wounder what you guys are using for coolant. I have a flood system on most of my machines but don't use it do to the mess. What other alternatives are there? Maybe mist? Maybe just run dry? What do you guys think? What about when surface grinding?

It entirely depends on the job,I use cool mist on milling becuase it is clean an also the air stream clears the chips from the cut ,however be sure and use some kind of dust/vac.collection as it can be rough on the lungs. As far as turning I still prefer water soluable oil and a good flood system. When turning or threading stainless I use sulpher thread cutting oil as that is what I have had the most luck with.
I just need one more tool, just one!
