I've seen similar behaviour from delivery persons from all the carriers but mostly around the holidays when they hire temporary drivers and work them to death. For the most part we get good service in our part of the world. It's easy to bash Amazon or UPS or whoever when your package gets dropped kicked over your fence in the rain but it's just poor human behavior that you find everywhere. Probably best just to complain to the shipper. Enough complaints and the driver will be gone.
I do miss the days when we had the same UPS driver for like 10 years. He once spotted me in a store parking lot in town and pulled in and handed me a package. Too many people living here now for that kind of service.

If so what did you do ?
Yes, 2.5 years ago. I laughed at myself for not checking prices on amazon, and I appreciated that someone was making a buck by providing a service in a fine example of capitalism. In my case the $30 amazon item was $33 on ebay and came with free 2nd day air shipping. That's a fine deal for a quick ship, if you don't pay for Prime.

And then do you know what I did? I posted the experience here right here on HSM:
OT - check amazon before ebay purchase

My buddy wanted a small Dewalt blower for his garage. Lowes(his go to store) sold the blower as did some other places without a battery. With some searching he found Grainger had the blower with battery for the same price. He said it came in 2 days. Shopping can pay off.

I've never seen cordless tools sold without batteries, unless it was a markdown returned item or something like that.

I just bought a small cordless chainsaw from Lowes, Kobalt brand. There was two options, one came with a battery and one without for the people that already have the same battery for other cordless tools. Made sense to me since the chainsaw gets used maybe once or twice a year and I already have two batteries for other Kobalt cordless tools that will work with it just fine

Makita sells tools only as well. Most batteries are cheaper if bought in a combo set though. There's always deals on drills and 1/4" impact drivers on the used market because it's cheaper to buy a drill/driver combo set with 2 batteries, and then sell the tools. You wind up with almost free batteries.

I haven't bought much from amazon this past year, and I've found most other local retailers end up being cheaper. Most have waived shipping cost, or subsidized it, and as said above amazon bakes their "free shipping" into the price. There are things though that nobody can touch amazon for on price, but as with most things it pays to shop around.

Never knew that but the only cordless tool I have is a Milwaukee 14.4 drill. Had it for probably 25 years. It came with two batteries and the drop in charger for the batteries. I've rebuilt both battery packs twice.

I don't care for battery powered tools unless I'm using them every day.

I had the same situation. Bought some replacement ear pads for my 3M Worktunes headphones on E-bay for $18.00. I thought that I was clever to think of searching for replacement pads instead of tossing the old headphones. I too felt conned when the replacements came from Amazon where they sold for $12.00. I usually search on Amazon first or count on the Amazon algorithms to pop up with an Amazon stocked item when I search on E-bay. This time I didn't remember and lost out. Caveat Emptor.

I haven't noticed any particular difference in price, but that things I order on ebay sometimes arrive in an Amazon box, the sellers must be covering all the options.

That is very common actually. I buy mostly Makita brand battery powered tools. I think I have six batteries so now I only buy the actual tools without batteries. If you look on the box the tool comes in and the battery is greyed out it doesn't come with a battery.

Cordless tools without batteries are called "skins" here in Australia. Quite common, but usually better value to buy a kit and sell batteries on eBay or wherever if you do not need them.

Another option is finding reconditioned tools that you thought you might want but didn't want to invest fully in. I have bought a few and they have performed as well as new. I always try to look for both new and reconditioned to see if there is better value going one way or the other. And yes, consider tool deals as you shop, sometimes a second tool or battery free with purchase is one way to entice you to buy.
