Best of all mole traps. Peanut butter on trigger did the trick.

‘Gopher Hawk’. 25 bucks at Amazon. Replaced Victor spring style trap, which was bad news for four of this guys buddies. Long story.

Better than a little acetylene and a spark?

            That ain't no mole.
If you have another design that you want to test come to my place. I guarantee there are more moles per home lot than people. They are in every lawn and it's super frustrating. Especially since they just started about 3 years ago. Prior to that they were around but not at all abundant.

Too big for a mole and the wrong color.
Might might be some neighbors pet gerbil.

Moles and gophers are beneficial, why kill them just to make your yard pretty?

Moles eat grubs and airate your yard. Just don't plant $100 worth of tulip bulbs without a barrier.

I cut a shoulder in a bank to build a garage, in doing I cut through lots of mole burrows, I was standing admiring my handywork when at about 2” of the new ground a mole shot out of a hole like a furry black bullet, landed at my feet, quite amusing, picked the little shiny bugger up turned it round and poked it back in the hole, man they’re fast little things.

Golf course nearby and they turn the gopher problem over to the licensed pros who use poison. The guy in the picture had stolen a Victor trap down hole, after two false triggers, flooding the holes with water brought silence for two days, the ‘hole in the black box’ type of trap has been successful but requires locating deep in the ground. The tunnel flooding idea led me to wash the hose down hole too far, and is now about five feet short of original length.
Trip to hardware store turned up the tube type Gopherhawk which pros had used on neighbors’ yard. (Think six traps, two gophers, two days).
The trap was loaded into one of three holes, all appearing active, fresh. No trigger overnight, but the spring cage and trigger area were packed with wet, sandy soil. Samo, samo over second attempt. Set trap third time with swipe of peanut butter on the trigger —-BINGO.
The tube trap shown contains a heavy spring loaded plunger, having a ss, three ribbed ‘cage and trigger) exposed out the far end and is inserted into the gopher tunnel. Cage design allows gopher entrance from any direction, all other designs require setting ‘in active tunnel in direction of “active travel”.

Ummmmm, because I've invested plenty to make my lawn pretty and the moles tear it up and make the turf look like hell. That's why. If you a problem with me killing moles it's exactly that. YOUR problem. You really don't want to debate me on this topic.

SO what's the operation of execution here? it's hard to see in the pic, does a spring loaded spike get driven through his head or what? it almost looks like that stick thing tried to eat him... no blood? WTF???
