Required reading for Gasoline Model engine design. Any reccomendations?

C.F. Taylor's "Internal Combustion Engine in Theory and Practice" both volumes 1 and 2 are the best in my opinion.

I came across this thread in the MEM forum regarding 2 stroke high performance engines by the late Jim Allen ( I was looking at info on hard chroming)

It has some very impressive design content (and execution to match)
