  • Amazon your pissing me off

I ordered three items from Amazon last week. One will take a month to get here, OK it's on an actual slow boat but I can wait.

One was a spot drill and the other was some metric screws and "special" nuts. Well the spot drill showed up in 3 days except when I opened the bag the plastic box it came in was crushed allowing the drill out into the bag which had a hole in it. No spot drill. Complaint filed and they promised to re-ship a new one, it will just take longer to get here.SIIGGGHHHH!!!!!

Then just for their amusement they sent a notice saying delivery of the last item would be delayed a couple of days, after they already said it had been shipped from the local depot. Fine I could wait for that BUT then they decided, for some reason that they didn't mention, that the order was cancelled and returned to the seller. Now they promised to refund my money, 3 to 5 days after it is returned, so sometime next week if at all. I will have to reorder and the icing on the cake is that because the original order was over $35 I had free shipping but the reorder will be $13 so I will now have to pay for shipping which I'm sure will as much as the metric nuts cost.

I don't know if this is Amazons standard practice or lack of one. Was there a screw up and the order was never shipped or went someplace in a galaxy far far away.

Amazon has done that to me as well a couple of times. I think the listings were older ones and typically at a lower price. I think the seller simply didn't want to recognize the old price so they claimed no stock and cancelled the order. The weird thing is that Amazon's system turned it around and made it look like it was ME that cancelled the order. I've got a little list going of such sellers and just don't even bother trying to order anything from them any longer.

It's far from perfect. But it makes up for that by giving me access to items I can't get from local or even National stores. Last time I tried to buy anything from Acklands, for example, I was told that they no longer sold to private persons. And that was more than 10 years ago. And about 8 years ago Fastenal up here in Canada did the same to me despite me always buying at least three boxes or bags with each visit to build up stock.

I use amazon mostly these days. Ebay has gotten so bad I only use it as a last resort. Several times I bought something on ebay and they give a tracking number but not actually shipped it 2-3 weeks later. You report it to ebay and they usually make you wait another week before a refund. I have had amazon refund me one day after a order that was promised in 3 days. No complaints about amazon from me. About 3/4 of what I order is here in 2-3 days, occasionally the next day.

I take it you don't have Prime. I usually don't order anything unless it is same day or next day. If it's next day then gets delayed, I cancel it. I also have great luck with Ebay.

I just had an order on Amazon that as I tracked it said "Undeliverable" when USPS tracking showed that it was literally in my town, and then got the "in 3-5 days we'll refund your order" crap etc. That was over a week ago. Still nothing. Not real happy with the situation. Needed that item.

Non of which was any thing to do with Amazon. You need to complain to your local postoffice. Most all of any delay in shipping is the fault of your local postoffice.

Not a complaint about delay in shipping. Delay in my refund. If they recalled a package or USPS lost it they shouldn't be hanging onto my money without replacing the product if it's missing. Amazon's website says "Undeliverable," USPS website just stopped updating tracking. And I already called the post office, delivery address was correct. Haven't heard a damn thing back.

Either way not my problem, and this isn't a private seller situation. They want to be a gazillion dollar company then they should act like one. They can afford to wait for USPS a hell of a lot more than I can.

I had that same thing happen with a camera I ordered.USPS straight up lost it. They used one of their "last mile" delivery contractors and the camera disappeared in juggling it between carriers. I finally got a new camera, but it did take a few extra days.

Amazon (and to be fair, most everyone else too) has gotten awful in terms of "losing" packages, delivering torn open and empty boxes and needlessly handing off packages in sight of the destination to other carriers such as USPS. I have a friend (ok, more of a friend of a friend) who is an Amazon warehouse manager. He says that rampant theft all along the package delivery process is through the roof, and most of those packages that are "delayed," lost or delivered empty have simply been stolen, mostly by the people paid to handle the packages between the shipper and you. When caught, they freely admit to keeping their eye out for "good" boxes, that end up in their trunk at the end of their shift and at the "neighborhood reseller" an hour later.

I ordered a new Samsung S22 as part of a AT&T promotion. The FedEx guy saw me open the front door to meet him when he pulled up. He tossed the package on the porch, sprinted back to his truck and sped off down the street... as I picked up the empty box. There is no way to contact FedEx by phone, their website told me to contact the phone company. After 4 different phone numbers and 45 minutes on hold I was told that AT&T has an army of folks doing nothing but getting complaints about shipped phones being stolen, and that nearly a quarter of all new phones that ship do not make it to their destination. The phone originally sent was labeled as "lost in transit" and forever disabled, and I was issued another phone which I now have.

All good with Amazon here. Usually a couple of days if in Australia, or no more than a week or so from overseas. Bought something recently with promise of next day delivery. That didn't happen so I complained and got it early the next morning. I have Prime.

Solution is simple, hold public executions and chop the hands off of thieves. Leave their bodies in the street.

Or just not buy anything from Amazon. IMHO that company is far too large.

That's my general approach. Ordinarily I don't, but I had a gift card balance given to me as a gift that's just been sitting so I thought I'd use it. Oops. And I am on a Prime account, for all you guys acting like that is going to help...

Unfortunately, as BC rider said earlier, it is the only shop in town anymore, at least for a lot of items and places. I can not get the items I wanted from anywhere else.
