    Good day and an introduction

    Hi guys!

New here so I thought I would introduce myself. I frequent one other forum which lately seems to be only active in the live steam side (which isn't my thing) so I figured I'd branch out a little.

I predominately make fishing reels in my home shop but will make anything I find I need as well. My shop is very small so I have limited room and while there are many machines I'd love to have (like a surface grinder) my shop is just too small...for now. I have enough equipment though to machine, finish and anodise my own stuff along with a fiber laser for marking after. Along side building some reels I recently finished a remote actuated lock for my shop as I had two fellas attempt a break in one night last week....not cool!

Anyway, I've been sifting through some of the threads and so far like what I see. I hope to be of some help here and of course hope to receive some as well.

    Welcome.
If you are seeking a small surface grinder,
    may I recommend a Boyar Shultz 6x12.
It is only a small bit larger than a Sanford
but a lot more capable machine.

Welcome RSG, where are you from?
      Canuck here.
There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum but it comes at the price of some very verbose know it all's and a lot of grumpy curmudgeons and over critical perfectionists so I would recommend a thick skin and careful validation of a lot of what is stated here.
It's a great place, lumps and all.
      Cheers,
      Jon

Welcome RSG. There are some extremely sharp members on this forum ready and willing to help solve problems or share their experience. Thick skin and a sense of humor is important when you visit. Pictures of projects, tooling, fixturing and of course shop tours are always a big hit. I'm in Alaska where are you located?

                Welcome.

Re thick skin required: don't be apprehensive about posting, replies are almost always polite & never extreme. When it gets outside of polite, it's usually a matter of escalation. I.e., back AND forth. HSM is moderated and "harassment, fighting, or rude posts" are subject to flagging.

Thanks Doozer, unfortunately even that one is too big for the shop. Great recommendation though!
