Anybody heard from Brian Rupnow

I have been wondering how he is doing. The last I heard he had the flu. I hope he is OK. One of the first things I look for when I come on here is to see if he had posted anything new.

I'm still around, but suffering badly from arthritis. They are going to schedule me for knee surgery to replace both knees. I'm kind of wrecked right now, so won't be machining much for a while.---Brian

My mom had both knees replaced in her late 60's. She is 102 now and hasn't had any pain in her knees since the operation.

Good luck Brian! Ice, ice, ice and more ice! My wife had zero problems, she tells everyone, ice it constantly. She took a cooler to bed every night with the ice packs in it. Please keep us apprised!

I had something called an "Ice Man", which circulated cold water through a flexible plastic cuff that fit over the knee.

Hope you get feeling better Brian! I had hip replacement 1 1/2 years ago and
finally got relief from a stabbing back pain that I had for years.

I've had fairly bad arthritis for the last 25 years, but nothing I couldn't live with. This year, since about Christmas on, it has been really bad in my hips and knees. I'm not really happy about going under the knife, as I am allergic to all of the common antibiotics. I'm still waiting for more doctors appointments to see if there is anything else that can be done.

Hi Brian,

Having worked in the trades for over 30yrs I've seen quite a few coworkers have knee and shoulder problems and the surgeries that go with this. The one thing that ALL of them can't recommend highly enough is the chilled water circulator that Paul suggested in post Albums They ALL said it made all the difference in the world as to the recovery from the surgery. So advocate for one at all cost is all I would suggest.

Just do all the exercised that the therapist recommends. They go a long way to a full recovery.

Had R knee done 10 years ago, works great now.
One word. Laxatives. Wish someone had told me that.
after not ‘moving the mail’ for 10 days, the knee surgery became secondary to the constipation.

I've had both knees done, one full and the other partial, and it is the best thing to have done. Not the same as non arthritic knees, but free of pain when walking, which saves having to use a zimmer frame or electric buggy. I have arthritus everywhere but my hips which is unusual.
