  • Evan's RV

Evan started this thread eleven months before his last post in 2017. I noticed that J Tiers is approaching Evan's total of 41,977 posts, and could surpass that soon. Which is why I dug up this old thread, to refresh my memory of Evan. I hope he is still on earth, machining somewhere even if its only on his Unimat.

I thought Evan had gone postal and deleted all of his content here?
I guess he missed that thread...
      Cheers,

What I remember most about him was one of his last comments, to paraphrase. "When I say I am leaving, I mean it and I will not be coming back".
I miss his posts but at the same time I really feel like returning the favor. He snubbed us, he only deserves the same.

I enjoyed Evan's posts but it gets a little old here whenever you post some people feel the need to always post a reply that points out you missed some point or the other and they are more right! Same person all the time and posts so much you wonder if they ever sleep or eat or do they have a life besides here?

Not a milestone I would have any interest in. I've been on here since '04, so no surprise with large post count over 18 years.

I know that what I will call "Evan interactions" boosted the post count of a number of people, including AKboomer, as well as myself and others. He certainly enjoyed arguing, and he was "never wrong", so they went on as long as anyone else would participate.

More recently, I notice that the "posting rate" of a number of folks has risen more recently to be 2x or more that of other "regulars", so maybe someone else will take over in the total.

Nice sleuthing! Looks like he may still be an adjunct at Univ of Victoria.

I bought his telescope from him just before he deleted everything, and he looked like that back then. I'm guessing that pic is probably 6-7 years old. He was nice while i was out there visiting, but he was definitely set in his ways and wouldn't take any suggestions or feedback from anyone.

He doesn't seen to be listed in their current staff records at all.

He was definitely a character. Obviously a smart guy but I could never figure out if he was the worlds biggest hypochondriac
or was actually accurately diagnosing his condition. He honestly felt that he had like a half dozen of the worlds most rarest conditions.

I'm just a bit worried about Evan. He was weird in some ways that are not good. I've had family members that were similar, and some of them did not turn out well.

Williams lake. They named the town around him after he moved there. True story
