  • Sliding Spline Assembly for Projects

    This is a part I used for Sliding Tap Holder,someone asked what it was salvaged from 2000-2007 GM pickups.I grabbed some at a Pic&Pull Auto Salvage today $13 each.The pic shows one after it’s dismantled,may be useful for some other Click image for larger version

        Thanks Mark,they have priority spline and areTeflon coated on Male End.They are fairly tight tolerance but should slide freely,I had one that coating separated from spline and was unusable.

        Doozer the U joint end connects to Steering column in Cab and opposite end connects collapsible tube that attaches to steering box under hood.Very easy to remove
        15mm Socket or Wrench and 2 Bolts to remove,then slide out from inside Cab.

            There is very little side movement,it would not be my first choice for coupling.Both parts can be cut in Bandsaw,the OD tube is weldable.I welded Chuck Backing Plate to end of Tube,would not weld where shaft will be sliding.
