Help save machine tools near Sacremento CA

As the title implies, machine tools need to be saved or they will end up in the salvage yard. I'm in contact with a gentleman that purchased a building and is now wanting to get rid of the machine tools in the building. I have seen photos of them and to be honest some of them are nothing to write home about but a couple are diamonds in the rough. To the right person a couple would be a treasure and might even qualify for a YOU SUCK! Most of them need some kind of repair or assembly. They cannot be powered.up. There are 2 manual lathes 13" swing or so, one 11" swing lathe and 1 small cnc lathe, 3 milling machines with one missing it's head (I think). Not much tooling is pictured but it could be out of sight. It's possible a forklift will be available for loading.

I suppose if you had any photos or descriptions, you would have posted them. Any info on the mills? I'm near Reno, a couple three hours from Sac.

I do have photos but I don't have permission from the owner to post them on the internet. Descriptions are limited based on provided photos. Two of the manual lathes, a Zubal and Samson are projects, assembly and repair or both, The small cnc is a Hardinge and appears to have been modified/upgraded. The 11" lathe is a Feeler and I have my name on it. One mill is a Shizuoka with some kind of automation up grade. The other mill is a 1960's vintage Cincinnati Tool Master that appears to be missing it's head. There is a small horizontal mill that I haven't been able to identify. As I said there doesn't appear to be much in the way of tooling.

I feel sad now, mines a 1960s toolmaster and I arrived in 60, I’m now vintage and definately need saving too, I think I’d swap a British passport for a Mexican one!

Good choice. I saw Feeler before I saw 11" lathe right before it. That is a good lathe. JR

The CNC is a Hardinge HNC, which is an older NC (not CNC) machine, and appears to be missing it's refrigerator-sized control box. Mechanically, the lathe itself seems in good shape, and appears to have a decent amount of tooling. But, unless more information turns up, it's very much a project for somebody. Something you'd add a Mach3 or Acorn control to.

Thanks for the clarification Doc. I spoke with the owner and asked him about the refrigerator sized control box. He said it is there but has been pretty much stripped.and appears to not be used. He believes the lathe is a working machine although he has no evidence other than hearsay from neighbors or the widow. And, of course he has no way of testing it or would know how to test it.

I think this Hardinge might qualify for a You Suck in the right hands.

These machines are about 2 hours South East of Sacramento. I know some of you guys could handle another project or two, especially if it's potentially a diamond in the rough.

That Shizouka mill might be a keeper depending on the model. They make some top notch machines.

Or a You Got .ucked, depending on what it would sell for. He's "... wanting to get rid of ... " them, but you never know what that means.
