Thank you all for responding. I am in Omaha Nebraska. I do not fear multiple failures in this learning project. It's 4 AM and I am pleasantly supprised that ebay has magnet wire, fiberglass insulation sleeves, insulating paper and varnish in small quantities and prices that I can tolerate.
About 50 years ago when I was a teenager, i bought a fried lincoln dialarc stick welder from a scrap yard. My dad and I ground away the welds holding the transformer laminations together, disasembling it. A rewind shop was nice enough to let me respool enough wire for my project and let me have a partial can of red glyptal varnish. We rewound it, and I still use it.
That chinese girl is admirable. I watched her videos getting a scrapyard lathe running again, rewinding other electric motors, repairing small gas and disel engines and building a small cabin and furniture.
Thanks Again, PS hopefully below are pics of a reversed spin index and an automotive
hub inspired workhead bored out to 1.5"
