OT, Totally OT, But I Had to Bring it UP!

I was born in Uruguay, my mother language is Spanish, worked many years ago in Massachusetts. Everybody had a thick New England accent which was actually quite pleasant to listen to, but the engineers said "drawring" when referring to a drawing. I could never find an explanation for that,

They also say WORSHington instead of Washington.

All those extra R's (drawRing, CubaR) are there to compensate for the ones dropped from other words (paHk, caH, yaHd).
