  • McMaster Catalog #123 - Free to First To Ask

I have a surplus copy of McMaster's catalog Intellicad (not the latest by any means). I will send it to the first person to ask and send me a PM with their mailing/shipping address.

And if you look REAL close at an analog signal,
You will find that it has discrete steps.

I'll take it if still available. A Intellicad vintage would be newer than the Metal Spinning I have. PM sent

30 years ago those books were very sought after. I have a couple, but rarely use them anymore since they have it online. And to me their website does well. I have MSC books too, and I do use those when looking for something, their website is not as useful as McMC.

I also use McMaster's great web catalog. But I find the paper catalog essential when I am looking for "something" but am not sure exactly what to search for or what might work. Flipping thru the catalog I can see what my options are. Once I have narrowed down my search, I typically go online to McMaster.

Indeed. A few times not so many years ago I posted a new surplus McMaster catalog on ebay and was somewhat shocked to get over 100 bucks it. This happened several times. Like you, it's been a long time since I flipped through one of their catalogs and no longer keep one at home. Their website is just too easy to use. The search function is effective and the info on the website is very comprehensive.

Almost at the other end of the spectrum is Grainger, whose website is so clunky that I often find it easier to use their paper catalog.

Yeah, I can remember when the catalogs were very difficult to get. The purchasing agent had one that we borrowed from time to time. Their online catalog is the best of any I've ever used.

Thats cool. It really is a good ref. book. I really cant afford to shop there anymore, fixed income and all. They have what you need. JR

I am well aware of people selling them on E-bay and have seen them go for similar amounts. But there has also been a bit of a tradition of offering them here on this BB for free.

When I was working I always had their latest catalog without asking for it. I was on their mailing list at several different companies. But when I retired I found that it was almost impossible to get on that list. Believe me, I tried. Someone said the magic was a DUNs number so I registered my business with Dun & Bradstreet. That didn't work. I even offered to pay them for one. I don't know what the magic formula is. Even with thousands of dollars in purchases in a calendar year, I was not able to get a catalog from them. So I appreciate being able to get older ones from generous people here. And I try to do the same with the older still copies that I have when I get those upgrades. I have not and do not intend to sell them.

Other catalogs come without any request on my part from companies that I never buy anything from.
