Found this while browsing through an old catalog. Clever idea, good enough for a lot of millwright class work. I’m guessing the same idea has popped up in many forms since 1920.

It appears to be a weighted pointer, is that what it is?
Good for getting pretty close to perfect on work that does not justify getting out the levels and sine plates etc. A clever idea, and looks effective.CNC machines only go through the motions.
